STRAAT museum launches her new exhibition, The Essence, on April 10th. It’s all about diving into what drives graffiti - the names, tags, lines and repetition - as its own visual language. The show follows graffiti’s journey from the underground in New York City to a global movement that inspires modern art. To celebrate the opening, the legendary graffiti artist Bill Blast (Wise/William Cordero) will create new work, give an interview and sign blackbooks on April 11th.

The Transit exhibition investigates the transformation of industry through the climate transition. The complex relationship between climate, industry, and prosperity is central. The exhibition concludes the five-year study, which approaches the transition legally, politically, and ethically, with the central question of who bears the responsibility and burden and who benefits.

In this fifth edition, the diversity of expression takes center stage. The works range from figuratie to abstract and show how artists look at the world and use their imagination. Every artist works in their own way, with different materials like paint, chalk, collage, and plexiglass. It is precisely these differences that make the exhibition interesting and together create a strong whole
Two Suns At Once

Traditionally, artists have united in shared workspaces. Sometimes out of financial necessity, but soon followed by collegiality and friendship in the creation of artworks. This cross-pollination brings new insights but raises questions, such as those concerning authorship: what emerges when different art forms come together? Is there room for multiple individuals within a single artwork?

For ten years, 3X3 Unites strengthens young people through sport, from local squares to an international community. The 3X3 Festivals marks a new chapter and brings together everything 3x3 stands for: development, top-level sport, the power of young people, community and street culture. From 19 June till 21 June the NDSM-werf changes into the beating heart of 3X3 basketball. From World Tour and Women’s Series to the 3x3 Street League Finals: street and elite come together here.

NORTH SIDE STORY

NORTH SIDE STORY by YoungGangers is a modern, musical reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet at the NDSM-werf in Amsterdam-noord this summer. This outdoor spectacle is inspired by Shakespeare and West Side Story. The action musical, written by Jibbe Willems, is a mix of poetry, humor, sung confrontation, raw spectacle and slapstick.
NDSM Children's Workshop | Floating Messages

At the NDSM Children's Workshop, imagination takes center stage. Children design and create their own unique pieces using a wide variety of recycled materials from the artists' studios on the wharf. Guided by these artists, who believe that every child is creative and can be encouraged to bring their ideas to life, children work from concept to creation. NDSM Kunst Toer

Stichting NDSM-werf organiseert speciale Kunst Toers. Tijdens deze wandeling hoor je meer over de tijdelijke kunstwerken, de makers en waarom ze passen op NDSM. De Kunst Toer wordt meestal gegeven door kunstenaar Su Tomesen en een speciale gast. De tweede Kunst Toer vindt plaats op 12 juli met als gast: Gabriel Lester, oprichter van PolyLester. De volgende Kunst Toers vinden plaats op 2 augustus, 23 augustus en 3 oktober. Houd hiervoor de agenda in de gaten.
Wish Me Well

From May 14, Wish Me Well will be on display at NDSM. This temporary, seven-metre-high monument by artist Lara Schnitger rises in a prominent spot at the ferry landing. The sculpture depicts a warrior who embraces and defends feminist values, and acts as a powerful beacon for emancipation in the public space. The official opening will take place on May 13.
NDSM Giants & 3x3 legacy courts

From April 24, the NDSM Giants will be on display at NDSM. Three eight-metre-high concrete sculptures designed by Gabriel Lester (PolyLester) are rising on the site. The giant basketball players, caught in movement, show from varying perspectives an exciting game between stillness and dynamism, between figuration and abstraction.
