From April 24, the NDSM Giants will be on display at NDSM. Three eight-metre-high concrete sculptures designed by Gabriel Lester (PolyLester) are rising on the site. The giant basketball players, caught in movement, show from varying perspectives an exciting game between stillness and dynamism, between figuration and abstraction.

From April 24, the NDSM Giants will be on display at NDSM. Three eight-metre-high concrete sculptures designed by Gabriel Lester (PolyLester) are rising on the site. With the placement of NDSM Giants in addition to the 3x3 Legacy Courts PolyLester's design is complete. Since 2024, these colorful basketball courts have been giving the shipyard a strong and recognisable look. PolyLester's graphic design, with bright orange and blue stripes, matches the lines and shapes of the surrounding buildings. With the arrival of NDSM Giants this place continues to grow into a lively meeting place for young people, local residents and visitors to the shipyard. The official opening will take place on April 23 at the 3x3 Legacy Courts next to Treehouse NDSM from 17:30-19:30.

“The giants mark the place and at the same time form a space in the lee where young people can enjoy themselves and feel at home while playing basketball.” — Gabriel Lester

About PolyLester
Founded by visual artist Gabriel Lester in 2013, PolyLester is a multidisciplinary studio that focuses on art, public sculptures, architectural interventions, landscape, interior design, and stage design.

The 3x3 Legacy Courts were created in close cooperation with 3x3 Unites, a foundation that uses 3x3 street basketball for youth empowerment, and the Municipality of Amsterdam. Since its inception in 2016, 3x3 Unites has inspired and supported young people who want to pursue their dreams. By using 3x3 basketball as a tool to provide young people with tools and life skills giving, they encourage them to take ownership of their own success.
