Stichting NDSM-werf

Stichting NDSM-werf was founded in 2009 and programmes, manages, and opens up the outdoor areas of the NDSM Wharf. The foundation believes in places where old and new come together, with culture and experimentation at the heart. Spaces where festivals, art, and a safe living environment coexist, and where heritage and open space give a voice to history and (counter)culture.
Mission
Stichting NDSM-werf is committed to the development and preservation of NDSM as a free and programmable cultural wharf—a place for experimentation and initiatives that contribute to urban livability and meaningful public space. This work is done for the city, with the city, and its visitors. The foundation’s approach explicitly draws on the site’s history, physical space, expressive heritage, distinctive ruggedness, and pioneering spirit.
Vision
Stichting NDSM-werf believes in the power of creative makers and artists to imagine new horizons and uses this to give meaning to the roles and functions that NDSM Cultuurwerf fulfils in today’s city and in the future. The foundation advocates shared ownership and responsibility for public space and encourages initiatives that actively involve the city, its residents, cultural organisations, and creative entrepreneurs. The guiding principle is that if you take something from NDSM, you should also be willing to contribute and invest in the future of the place. The foundation promotes a rich diversity of users and entrepreneurship, striving to balance different interests so that all parties collectively contribute to a meaningful NDSM Cultuurwerf.

CULTURAL PARTNERS
NDSM is a cultural ecosystem of makers, artists, cultural entrepreneurs, and cultural institutions. The latter play a crucial role in the ecosystem by ensuring the sustainable embedding of culture on the wharf and acting as drivers of innovation. They do this, among other things, by providing a platform for the many makers and artists who have made NDSM their workspace.
Some highlighted partners include: NDSM Kinderatelier, Noordje, Amsterdam&Partners, sQuare, Vandejong Creative Agency, Treehouse NDSM, STRAAT Museum, Stichting Kinetisch Noord (NDSM Loods), NDSM Fuse, Beautiful Distress, and event partners such as the DGTL, ADE, No-Art, and Lepeltje Lepeltje festivals.
Stichting NDSM-werf has been awarded a four-year grant by the AFK – Amsterdam Fund for the Arts for 2025–2028. In addition, we seek support from partners and funds for each art and education project.
We sincerely thank our funders, foundations, and partners for their (ongoing) support and collaboration.
