Wanted: young curator for intervention during Museum Night Amsterdam 2026
Are you an emerging curator (max. 35 years old) with a fresh view of art and society? Would you like to realise an intervention in public space, outdoors at the NDSM-werf in Amsterdam-Noord? Stichting NDSM-werf offers you the opportunity to create a programme outdoors at NDSM.

Think of a performance, a live act, or a temporary art or audio work that will be seen and experienced during Museum Night, 7 November 2026 (19:00–23:00).

What will you do?
You will work around the installation The Argonauts (or The Painted Lady and the Butterfly Boys) by the English artist Ivan Morison, which will be on view at the NDSM wharf from the end of September. In The Argonauts, reed sculptures are temporarily fixed in their shape as fossils using sprayed concrete. The work plays with a tension between the agrarian interior and a permanent, urban shell. This contrast makes temporary and changing situations in the city clear and visible. Naturally, you will hear more about this during the process.

Who is this programme for?
We are looking for creative young talents who want to gain experience in programming in public space. This programme is specifically aimed at emerging curators and makers with the ambition to further develop themselves in creating programmes and interventions in public space.

What does the process include?

  • A (digital) meeting with the artist Ivan Morison to learn more about the background of the work.
  • A curator’s fee (approx. EUR 2,400 / 60 hours at EUR 40 per hour) and production budget for the realisation of your intervention.
  • The opportunity to develop a concept and collaborate with artists and makers.
  • Guidance from a curator, creative producer, and support from the technical producer of Stichting NDSM-werf to realise your plan.
  • An extensive tour of the NDSM wharf by team members of Stichting NDSM-werf.
  • Invitations and tickets for openings and programming by Stichting NDSM-werf.
