The IJ-Hallen are the largest flea market in Europe and take place about once every three weeks on the outside of NDSM (spring and summer) or inside the NDSM Loods (autumn and winter). As part of Wish Me Well, De Feministische Handwerk Partij is hosting a workshop that explores handicraft not only as a craft, but also as a way of bringing people together, sharing care and discussing social issues. Surrounding Lara Schnitger's artwork, made from hand-decorated sandbags that symbolically protect feminist values, participants will explore how textiles, mending and care have been connected to the role of women in society for centuries.

From September 3rd to 13th, the Amsterdam Fringe Festival will take over various locations across the city, including the NDSM wharf. Circoloco returns to NDSM for an unforgettable night of energy, raw sounds and club culture. With a strong line-up of international artists and a mix of house and techno, it promises to be another unforgettable experience. Circoloco's underground vibe brings the Ibiza atmosphere to the shipyard's industrial setting. Expect pulsing beats, intense moments on the dance floor, and a night where music and freedom come together.

On 19 September 2026, A Percussion Piece will take place at NDSM: a large-scale participatory performance by media artist Maxim Tyminko, organised by antiwarcoalition.art. They want to gather 1,200 participants to draw attention to the hundreds of political prisoners who have remained imprisoned in Belarus since the 2020 elections, while also reflecting on the fragility of freedom.

IN TUNE is about finding a new balance between human beings and their environment by appealing to our capacity for hearing and listening. Just as tuning a musical instrument requires extremely attentive listening and observation, we must continue to listen and, as humans, tune ourselves to our surroundings. In Tune is active from 12:00 to 17:00, with an interval of 5 minutes.

TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE DUE TO TRAVEL TO LOWLANDS FESTIVAL Until the end of this year, two car installations by artist Bart Eysink Smeets will be on display at NDSM. These playful works, parked throughout the shipyard, focus on the car as a symbol of how we interact with space, movement, and utility.

Lusthoven have a rich history as places that were meant to stimulate the senses. At the same time, they increasingly became an exclusive place for the wealthy owners to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. One example is the private Lusthoven aan de Vecht, where only wealthy Amsterdammers used to go. With this contemporary NDSM Lusthof, you can Studio Ossidiana a parallel between the pleasure gardens of yesteryear and the courtyards of today's apartment complexes, which are often only accessible to owners or tenants.

Under Pressure is the winning project of the NDSM Open Call 2023 by Catarina Garcia and Jim Du Pan. The winning proposal consists of a colossal steel sphere that appears to rise above the shipyard. The base of the work is formed by Crane 7, a derelict crane that in its heyday transported pieces of steel from the warehouse to the slipways, where ships were assembled and restored. The sphere is illuminated from within and functions as a beacon of light for the surrounding area, also visible from the water. The frame of the sphere is wrapped in plants that change with the seasons.

The two winning projects of the NDSM Open Call 2024, now presented in 2025 – Look Up by Renée Marcus Janssen and Shells by Lyangelo Vasquez – will be on view in the NDSM Loods from 12 September. Through the annual NDSM Open Call, Stichting NDSM-werf and Stichting Kinetisch Noord make it possible for artists and creatives based at the former shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord to realise new artistic projects.
