STRAAT museum launches her new exhibition, The Essence, on April 10th. It’s all about diving into what drives graffiti - the names, tags, lines and repetition - as its own visual language. The show follows graffiti’s journey from the underground in New York City to a global movement that inspires modern art. To celebrate the opening, the legendary graffiti artist Bill Blast (Wise/William Cordero) will create new work, give an interview and sign blackbooks on April 11th.

The Transit exhibition investigates the transformation of industry through the climate transition. The complex relationship between climate, industry, and prosperity is central. The exhibition concludes the five-year study, which approaches the transition legally, politically, and ethically, with the central question of who bears the responsibility and burden and who benefits.

Traditionally, artists have united in shared workspaces. Sometimes out of financial necessity, but soon followed by collegiality and friendship in the creation of artworks. This cross-pollination brings new insights but raises questions, such as those concerning authorship: what emerges when different art forms come together? Is there room for multiple individuals within a single artwork?

A. Beginning brings together seven artists who have each started over in their own way after studies, illness, or personal changes. The exhibition explores the balance between vulnerability and resilience and shows how the desire to start over runs deep within us. Even in uncertain circumstances, the urge to grow and move forward remains present.

In this exhibition, Janna explores how memories from her childhood continue to live on. Inspired by memories of her grandmother, she translates moments from the past into new images. The sea and the beach, connected to her childhood in Zandvoort, regularly recur as recurring elements in her work.
