On 19 September, the theatre production De Pionier will premiere at Amsterdam’s NDSM-werf. With De Pionier, Michiel Voet is the winner of the NDSM Open Call 2025/2026, the annual open call through which Stichting NDSM-werf and Stichting Kinetisch Noord enable art projects by artists and creatives based at the former shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord.

Stichting NDSM-werf presents The Argonauts at NDSM, a new public artwork by British artist Ivan Morison: a group of three monumental sculptures that introduce strange embodied forms into the post-industrial landscape of NDSM. The opening is on 24 September and everybody is welcome!

Tijdens het Ambacht in Beeld Festival verandert de NDSM Loods in Amsterdam in een grote ambachtelijke werkplaats. Meer dan honderd meester-ambachtslieden uit binnen- en buitenland geven workshops, masterclasses, demonstraties en lezingen in disciplines variërend van houtdraaien en koperslaan tot kintsugi en batik. Het festival biedt jong en oud de kans om ambachten te ontdekken, zelf te ervaren en nieuwe vaardigheden op te doen, met speciale activiteiten voor kinderen.

During NDSM OPEN, you will meet a diverse group of artists and other creative minds. In addition to the studios and workshops opening to the public on October 3rd, there are plenty of activities for visitors to enjoy. At NDSM OPEN, you will discover art, craftsmanship, design, architecture, fashion, music, installations, performances, and workshops.

Stichting NDSM-werf is organising a special Art Tour. During this walking tour, you’ll learn more about the temporary artworks, the artists behind them, and why they fit so well at NDSM. The Art Tour will be led by artist and guide Su Tomesen, with special guest Henk Schut.

IN TUNE is about finding a new balance between human beings and their environment by appealing to our capacity for hearing and listening. Just as tuning a musical instrument requires extremely attentive listening and observation, we must continue to listen and, as humans, tune ourselves to our surroundings. In Tune is active from 12:00 to 17:00, with an interval of 5 minutes.

TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE DUE TO TRAVEL TO LOWLANDS FESTIVAL Until the end of this year, two car installations by artist Bart Eysink Smeets will be on display at NDSM. These playful works, parked throughout the shipyard, focus on the car as a symbol of how we interact with space, movement, and utility.

Lusthoven have a rich history as places that were meant to stimulate the senses. At the same time, they increasingly became an exclusive place for the wealthy owners to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. One example is the private Lusthoven aan de Vecht, where only wealthy Amsterdammers used to go. With this contemporary NDSM Lusthof, you can Studio Ossidiana a parallel between the pleasure gardens of yesteryear and the courtyards of today's apartment complexes, which are often only accessible to owners or tenants.

Under Pressure is the winning project of the NDSM Open Call 2023 by Catarina Garcia and Jim Du Pan. The winning proposal consists of a colossal steel sphere that appears to rise above the shipyard. The base of the work is formed by Crane 7, a derelict crane that in its heyday transported pieces of steel from the warehouse to the slipways, where ships were assembled and restored. The sphere is illuminated from within and functions as a beacon of light for the surrounding area, also visible from the water. The frame of the sphere is wrapped in plants that change with the seasons.

The two winning projects of the NDSM Open Call 2024, now presented in 2025 – Look Up by Renée Marcus Janssen and Shells by Lyangelo Vasquez – will be on view in the NDSM Loods from 12 September. Through the annual NDSM Open Call, Stichting NDSM-werf and Stichting Kinetisch Noord make it possible for artists and creatives based at the former shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord to realise new artistic projects.
