NORTH SIDE STORY by YoungGangers is a modern, musical reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet at the NDSM-werf in Amsterdam-noord this summer. This outdoor spectacle is inspired by Shakespeare and West Side Story. The action musical, written by Jibbe Willems, is a mix of poetry, humor, sung confrontation, raw spectacle and slapstick.

At the NDSM Children's Workshop, imagination takes center stage. Children design and create their own unique pieces using a wide variety of recycled materials from the artists' studios on the wharf. Guided by these artists, who believe that every child is creative and can be encouraged to bring their ideas to life, children work from concept to creation. This edition: we'll be making Floating Messages!

This summer, Stichting NDSM-werf presents New Dawn by Howareyoufeeling.studio: a public installation of 108 red monobloc chairs inviting visitors to take a seat, pause, and become part of a shared ritual of attention, stillness and encounter. New Dawn was developed by the Mumbai-based artist couple Doyel Joshi and Neil Ghose Balser of Howareyoufeeling.studio. Within the Indian context, the circle of 108 red monobloc chairs symbolises wholeness and connectedness, while also serving as an announcement of a new day.

The third and largest edition of Queer Market Amsterdam outside on the NDSM square next to Pllek! After two successful editions, they are now going all out with more than 50 queer entrepreneurs who will surprise you with vintage, art, handmade products, sustainable gifts, music, workshops, and of course, food & drinks. Queer Market XXL: Browsing and shopping at NDSM Enjoy vintage items, art, handmade products, and sustainable gifts. The program is complemented by live DJs, music, creative workshops, and a varied food and drink selection.

Lusthoven have a rich history as places that were meant to stimulate the senses. At the same time, they increasingly became an exclusive place for the wealthy owners to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. One example is the private Lusthoven aan de Vecht, where only wealthy Amsterdammers used to go. With this contemporary NDSM Lusthof, you can Studio Ossidiana a parallel between the pleasure gardens of yesteryear and the courtyards of today's apartment complexes, which are often only accessible to owners or tenants.

Under Pressure is the winning project of the NDSM Open Call 2023 by Catarina Garcia and Jim Du Pan. The winning proposal consists of a colossal steel sphere that appears to rise above the shipyard. The base of the work is formed by Crane 7, a derelict crane that in its heyday transported pieces of steel from the warehouse to the slipways, where ships were assembled and restored. The sphere is illuminated from within and functions as a beacon of light for the surrounding area, also visible from the water. The frame of the sphere is wrapped in plants that change with the seasons.

IN TUNE is about finding a new balance between human beings and their environment by appealing to our capacity for hearing and listening. Just as tuning a musical instrument requires extremely attentive listening and observation, we must continue to listen and, as humans, tune ourselves to our surroundings. In Tune is active from 12:00 to 17:00, with an interval of 5 minutes.

De twee winnaars van de NDSM Open Call 2024 die we nu in 2025 presenteren, Look Up van Renée Marcus Janssen en Shells van Lyangelo Vasquez, warenn vanaf 12 September te zien in de NDSM Loods. Met de jaarlijkse NDSM Open Call maken Stichting NDSM-werf en Kinetisch Noord kunstprojecten mogelijk van kunstenaars en creatieven, gevestigd op de voormalige scheepswerf in Amsterdam-Noord.
