Traditionally, artists have united in shared workspaces. Sometimes out of financial necessity, but soon followed by collegiality and friendship in the creation of artworks. This cross-pollination brings new insights but raises questions, such as those concerning authorship: what emerges when different art forms come together? Is there room for multiple individuals within a single artwork?

On Saturday 23 May, the Y-helling — the largest slipway on NDSM — will transform into the setting for Big City Giant Monster Attack - Oh Nooo! From 14:00 onwards, students from Design Lab 2026, part of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and led by Oscar Peters, will present their self-built vehicles in an extravaganza filled with absurdity, performance and movement.

A. Beginning brings together seven artists who have each started over in their own way after studies, illness, or personal changes. The exhibition explores the balance between vulnerability and resilience and shows how the desire to start over runs deep within us. Even in uncertain circumstances, the urge to grow and move forward remains present.

From April 24, the NDSM Giants will be on display at NDSM. Three eight-metre-high concrete sculptures designed by Gabriel Lester (PolyLester) are rising on the site. The giant basketball players, caught in movement, show from varying perspectives an exciting game between stillness and dynamism, between figuration and abstraction.
