On 27 April 2026, the wharf will once again turn orange during the 14th edition of NDSM Vrijhaven. During the city’s largest children’s flea market, it’s not just about selling – the NDSM-werf is above all a place full of play and fun. Of course, children lay out their treasures: toys, books and unexpected finds. But you can also come up with your own quirky activity and rent a market stall to bring it to life. Think of tin-can throwing, a mini performance, sack races, or another playful idea that fits in – or even around – a stall. For visitors, this means happily wandering past stalls, blankets and activities, where there is always something to discover.
PROGRAMME KINGSDAY 2026
The day traditionally begins with the largest children’s flea market in the city, where young sellers offer their toys, clothes and other small treasures. Children who would like to sell their old toys, clothes or other items are welcome to join. Would you like to book a stall or a ground spot at the children’s flea market? You can now reserve your place via the “Tickets” button at the top right of this page. Please note: the flea market is for children only — selling by adults is not permitted.
Not a child, but do you have a great idea? Email vrijhaven@ndsm.nl to see what might be possible.
At the Buurtpodium, you can discover a range of local talents. STRAAT Museum is organising graffiti workshops especially for children, where they can create their own tag on a sea container or make an artwork on canvas. The Ambachtenbus will also be present again, where children can playfully discover technology and traditional crafts.
Anyone looking for action and spectacle can enjoy the Karnival attractions. Test your strength with the high striker, your reactions on the boxing ball, or your precision with ball throwing. In the swing carousel you’ll soar high above the festival grounds, and those who dare can take on the Whipe Out, a physical challenge that puts balance and agility to the test.
New this year are the Magic Tea Cups and Funbiking, where you generate energy together by cycling. Also new this year is the NDSM Photobooth, where you can take a fun photo to remember your King’s Day on the wharf. And together we will attempt to create the longest conga line on the wharf.
This year we are also going all out at the NDSM 3x3 Legacy Courts. Among the impressive NDSM Giants, which will be on display at the NDSM-werf from 24 April 2026, we will organise a special programme of basketball activities together with 3X3 Unites. More information will follow soon.
Throughout NDSM Vrijhaven, several stages across the wharf will feature live music. Stop by IJver and choose a matching beer, or dance on the beach at Pllek overlooking the IJ. There will also be plenty of tunes at Noorderlicht café, while the DJs at NDSM Café will provide great beats.
You can also visit Gio’s by the River, VandeWerf, Woodies at Berlin and Trammeland, where you can enjoy music, fun activities and refreshing drinks.
FOOD AND DRINKS
This year, various bars and food trucks will once again offer a wide selection of food and drinks. From sandwiches to poffertjes, and from Surinamese to Indonesian cuisine, there is something tasty for everyone at NDSM Vrijhaven, including vegetarian and vegan options.
