The NDSM Theater/Café is back with Cotton Jazz on Tour: a series of top-level free weekly jazz concerts inspired by the legendary sessions at the Cotton Club on the Nieuwmarkt. Every Saturday afternoon from 16:30 to 19:30, some of the best Dutch jazz soloists perform, with saxophone at the center this autumn and sounding names like Dimitri Shapko, Efraïm Trujillo and Simon Rigter. While the concerts continue the Cotton Club's rich tradition, the NDSM shipyard offers a new, inspiring place where live music and visual arts come together.

The Witch's Mark returns to DOOR OPEN SPACE with an extensive new performance: an intense, multi-sensory journey through a witch trial, featuring live music, dance, shibari and visual arts. In collaboration with Leyla de Muynck, Papilicious, CUT_ and Deniz Eroglu, among others, the show depicts the three phases of a witch trial and explores how women can regain their voice and strength. The performance invites the audience to reflect on their role as spectators — then and now.

In de tentoonstelling Nederland, word beter! blikken stichting Nederland Wordt Beter en het Amsterdam Museum terug op 15 jaar Zwart activisme in Nederland (2010-2025); de strijd voor gelijkheid en tegen racisme en andere vormen van uitsluiting. Een tijdlijn gecombineerd met verhalen van betrokkenen toont de geschiedenis en het heden van verschillende antiracisme-initiatieven. Te zien van donderdag tot en met zondag, toegang is gratis.

Between the Sheets presents a focused exhibition by FAILE, the Brooklyn-based duo of Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller, whose work has long challenged the boundaries between the street and the studio, the iconic and the ephemeral. With a practice rooted in printmaking, collage, and visual sampling, FAILE has spent the past 25 years constructing a vocabulary that draws from mass media, sacred imagery, pulp fiction, and the language of the city.

All the Tyres from Iceland is a sculptural artwork rooted in a compelling narrative of global trade, waste, and circular economies. This project reimagines used tyres—typically seen as waste—into striking installations that challenge perceptions of value and sustainability.  

The two winners of the NDSM Open Call 2024 that we are now presenting in 2025, Look Up by Renée Marcus Janssen and Shells by Lyangelo Vasquez, will be on display in the NDSM Loods from September 12. With the annual NDSM Open Call, Stichting NDSM-werf and Stichting Kinetisch Noord make art projects by artists and creatives, based at the former shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord, possible.

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, On The Inside is proud to present Zwerk — an art project that revolves around the old, poetic word for “sky” or “heaven”. The word conjures up images of an ever-changing sky and provides a sense of freedom, space and infinity. But this openness also includes feelings of confusion, alienation, a threat that is not immediately visible, and the realization that people are only small in such a big world. The exhibition shows these themes with installations, film, paintings and photography.

What stories are valuable when a place changes? How can stories that are important to the city be preserved? At this online listening place, you'll hear voices and stories that are often underexposed and shouldn't be lost.

Schattige babyvoetjes (Cute baby feet) will be on display at the NDSM shipyard from September 26, 2025 and will remain visible at the head of the industrial Y slope for two years. The new text work by artist Lily van der Stokker was developed especially for NDSM.

ART PROGRAMMING BY STICHTING NDSM-WERF

For the annual DGTL festival at NDSM (April 18-20), this year, the NDSM-werf Foundation and DGTL jointly commissioned the iconic container arch to give the iconic container arch a new look. In 2025, the Groningen VAAF artist duo Lotte Masker and Jonna Bo Lammers were commissioned.

Take part in the NDSM Scavenger Hunt: solve the problem and receive a gift and a treat!

Under Pressure by artists Catarina Garcia and Jim Du Pan is the winning entry of the NDSM Open Call 2023 and consists of a colossal steel ball that appears to rise above the shipyard. The base of the work is Kraan 7, a dilapidated, half-sawn crane that, in its heyday, carried pieces of steel from the warehouse to the slopes, where ships were assembled and restored. The sphere is illuminated from the inside and acts as a beacon for the environment, also visible from the water. The frame of the ball is wrapped in plants that move with the seasons.

IN TUNE is about finding a new balance between people and their environment by calling on our ability to hear and listen. Just like tuning a musical instrument, which requires extreme listening and observation, we must continue to listen and ourselves as human beings tune with our environment.
