Women at a men's shipyard

Women at a men's shipyard
Ans started working at the NDSM shipyard at sixteen as an administrative assistant and eventually became a key figure in social work. In a world dominated by men, she quickly learned to stand up for herself. Her work focused on the well-being of the workers, from family care to support with financial concerns. Despite the rough character of the shipyard, she felt at home and built strong connections. In 1980, she left with a heavy heart. When she returned decades later, she barely recognized the place. Still, she sees how the shipyard has found new meaning — for artists, for the neighborhood, and for herself.
