Playtime at the shipwharf

Playtime at the shipwharf
Bert Klaassen is now an artist who draws inspiration from NDSM. And that’s no surprise - between the ages of eight and sixteen, he was there almost every day with his father, who was largely responsible for raising him.
His father, EGJ Klaassen, worked in the foundry at NDSM for over 30 years, where anchors and parts of ships were cast in iron. As a young boy, Bert would tag along, wide-eyed, watching everything, from hauling on the wagon to joking around with the workers on the wharf. To him, it was a magical world. One that he still can’t get out of his mind to this day.
