NDSM Get Lost
an odyssey
I believe that every material (be it an object, a place or a concept) has a consciousness; not necessarily a soul or a spirit, like ours, but an awareness of itself, with a particular size, shape and density, with its own history. Together we build a relationship, we adapt to one another, take on each other’s attributes and characteristics, permitting things to gather and form rather than imposing an order.
This way, the work becomes a meeting place; a place where object and subject are treated with the same respect, unfolding a network of meanings and associations, celebrating the visitors themselves, giving them the most important role so that they can participate and complete the work.
The place of our destination, becomes the place of our departure

Performance-installatie kunstenaar Giorgos Gripeos transformeert met The place over the passage de white cube van Nieuw Dakota tot een levendig multimediaal podium. De verrijdbare tentoonstellingsmuren worden door elkaar geschud en gestapeld. Deze ruim vijf meter hoge architectonische installatie is ook vertrekpunt voor de verbinding met de buitenruimte, met de geschiedenis van de NDSM werf, met het publiek en met andere plekken in de wereld waaronder de Griekse havenplaats Piraeus.
Op 14 juli is er een marathon lezing van Homerus’ Odyssee door tweehonderd deelnemers die 10 uur lang fragmenten in hun eigen taal lezen, i.s.m. The International Readers of Homer, Over het IJ Festival en met muziek door het Genetic Choir, live gestreamd op de veerpont van en naar de NDSM en de Westerdoksdijk.
Op 21 juli zal Aemilia Papaphilippou een performance opvoeren in de installatie.
