Pete is a resident on Gilles Peterson’s award winning radio stationWorldwide FM, while David holds down the Bush of Ghosts show on Berlin’s best kept secret, Cashmere Radio. Bringing whacked out griot house, slo mo trippers and ethnological forgeries to a town near you. On the Corner Soundsytem recently curated a day at the Worldwide Festival in Leysin in 2018 and have a heavy schedule shaping up for the rest of the year. The recordlabel also won ‘Best Label of the Year’ in the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards last February.
On the Corner Soundsystem was born from the label’s long running collaboration with Santuri, the platform for new sounds and unholy collaborations from East Africa and beyond. Stripped down to a lean two man formation, OtC will play an attacking game, pushing high up the musical field and moving the ball with surprising dexterity for such big lads. Careening through afro electronics, wonky rumba, outer-national sidewinders and fever-dream beats and breaks. Label boss Pete Buckenham and Santuri’s David Tinning will boss the midfield over the course of the evening via Pllek’s formidable new PA.
