Container Arch

For many festival visitors, the container arch is now a NDSM icon. Once placed as a piece of scenery for DGTL festival, other festivals now also use it. Because of the absence of the festivals in corona time, the NDSM Foundation decided to periodically give the arch another interpretation, to symbolize the dynamic feeling that the festival season gives. For this purpose they invited artists to give an interpretation. The first intervention was conceived and carried out by illustrators and graphic designers Sue Doeksen and Jord Noorbeek. With the message “Be Kind” they were inspired by the last words of the late Mayor Eberhard van der Laan. The sides indicate the versatility of NDSM: an owl representing wisdom and magic and a court jester symbolizing fun and entertainment.
