STICHTING NDSM-WERF X PAKHUIS DE ZWIJGER: ‘Exploring Inclusive City Design’
PROGRAMMA BY STICHTING NDSM-WERF IN COLLABORATION WITH PAKHUIS DE ZWIJGER EN AFAINA DE JONG
In the run-up to a new project on NDSM in 2022, for which designer Afaina de Jong will create a new meeting place with input from locals around Amsterdam-Noord. As a warm-up to this project, on Friday 26 November, Stichting NDSM-werf organizes ‘Exploring Inclusive City Design’, in collaboration with Pakhuis de Zwijger and Het Nieuwe Instituut.
What does inclusive public space look like? And what kind of functional public space is needed on NDSM? These are the questions on which architect Afaina de Jong was commissioned by Stichting NDSM-werf to design a new meeting place at the former location of a society for former shipyard workers, and later the site of Sexyland. In a preliminary phase, Afaina will speak to people from Amsterdam-Noord, in order to gather inspiration for a sketch design. The final installation will ideally be seen in the summer of 2022.
In 2022 the first contours of the design will become clear on the plot. In the run-up to that, Stichting NDSM-werf organizes the program ‘Exploring Inclusive City Design’ in Pakhuis de Zwijger on the 26th of November on design for inclusive cities where, next to Afaina de Jong, also Arna Mackic, Joseph Henry (Sound Advice) and Amina Hassen (Blackspace Collective) will speak.
