C’EST FINI OU QUOI? | Amsterdam Fringe Festival
During Amsterdam Fringe Festival Pllek serves as a place to offer up-and-coming theater talent a stage. In C’est fini ou quoi? Is Rani wondering how we as humans, living in a makeable world, deal with our awareness of finitude? She’s asked this question to seven different people and took their vote. A performance without actors, an installation with beginning and end.

C’est fini ou quoi? | Would you like to be immortal?
– Yes No problem!
– No, why now? Always stay here in the world? No, please. No way.
– Euh, no. It seems to be very boring. So always with the same people? And there will also be
more, and how should that be?
– Yes, because I love life so I find it very stupid to stop living.
– No, because eh, I’ve been home alone for a week now and I’m already bored. So what will that be like in 50 years, when almost everyone is dead? Rather now efkes, then long and bored.

Rani Decock (1994, BE) likes to watch. She looks at the world how it is and likes to put a spot on it here and there. Last summer (2017) she graduated from the directing program at the Toneelacademie in Maastricht. Rani can not be defined within one art discipline or one style. Reflection on what needs to be told at a certain moment drives her. Which form communicates the most exciting, further initiates its creative process. And that varies.
She loves the great contrast and the small detail, colorful tristesse and gray banalities. She embraces the poetry of reality and the magic of fantasy.
In the performance C’est fini ou quoi? Rani knows how to underline banalities with humor and tragedy in an exciting way. She listens and observes. She receives and displays again.
