Museumnight @NDSM
During Museum Night 2024, you can once again indulge yourself in cultural delights at the NDSM wharf! As many as six cultural institutions a stone's throw away from the shipyard, each offer a packed exciting program. Your artistic nighttime escapade starts on the ferry hosted by Amsterdam Ferry Festival. Once you arrive at the shipyard, you can stop by performances, exhibitions, technopartions and more! On this page, you can read more about the Museumnacht 2024 program at NDSM.
Stichting NDSM-werf
This year, the scene of Museum Night 2024 on the NDSM outdoor area is the work. Mlem-Uhha, presented by the Stichting NDSM-werf. This work, created by Boris Tellegen (known in the graffiti world as DELTA) can be seen as a crossover between architecture and street art where typography and fonts are played in a spatial way.
The team of Xplore Freerunning, known for their parkour and freerun classes in Amsterdam, will take over Boris Tellegen's architectural art installation as a freerunning object during Museum Night. Smooth movements, side flips, somersaults or bizarre jumps; stop by to see how the installation transforms into a physical playground.
During Museum Night, Jayo Tony and DAM used Boris Tellegen's installation as a canvas for continuous projection mapping. Based on Tellegen's work, they create a visual world in which the urbanity of NDSM, music, sample and graffiti culture and abstract visual language come together. The projections were made by the Amsterdam Visual Artist Jayo Tony, known for her collabs with Iceland, Cho and Shift, in collaboration with talents from The Amsterdam Media Factory (DAM). DAM is a professional media production company based on T.T. Vasumweg, around the corner from the NDSM shipyard. Here, media talents with a distance from the labor market get the opportunity to develop and take an appropriate and ambitious next step.
In the meantime, feeling like a nice drink? 't IJ Brewery, with their cozy caravan, can be found at the NDSM Wharf, offering a well-deserved refreshment amidst all the cultural programs.
Amsterdam Ferry Festival
Amsterdam Ferry Festival host this year The big Radio North Amsterdam Sailing in North Talk Show. DJ Gijs Velsink (aka Gijs Velsink) and DJ Fer AF Drijver (aka Selby Gildemacher) will create a radio show from the ferry during Museum Night in Amsterdam North! As the ferry sails back and forth between the NDSM wharf and Central Station, various speakers pass by in the show: from casual passengers to less casual Museum Night artists talking about their activities.
Moving Arts Center Amsterdam (MACA)
Fully immerse yourself in Generative Art at all levels at MACA! During museum night, you will find 3 areas that reflect the 3 pillars of the museum. In the C areacreate you'll learn how to use generative tooling. Showcase is a stage with audiovisual artworks and artists. In the Multiscreen Room Talent emerging talent is connected to each other.

New Dakota
Dark clouds are gathering over the NDSM shipyard. The future for New Dakota is ominous, as it is for many other fellow institutions in Amsterdam-Noord. These last few months are turbulent, can we continue our programs? In what way, with a different face? In a different jacket? For years, a thriving cultural life has been built at the shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord, and now the waves of doom are sloshing against the quay... The tides are tense. Nieuw Dakota invites you to experience this turbulent time in a series of happenings that follows the structure of a three-act play:
With ACT I: In the eye of the storm, creates New Dakota the set-up for this stormy autumn. We are looking for guidance, but the water is on our lips. We lean against the wind while the cold whips over our faces with wet welts. In the midst of the turbulence, we suddenly stand still, feeling paralyzed by the hustle and bustle. During Museum Night, New Dakota shows work by artists who play with the opposites of rest & noise and you are invited to experience this chaotic standstill for yourself.
ACT II: System failure, on errors and glitches will take place on November 23, ACT III: Beyond expiration date will take place on December 14
NDSM Fuse
Kites are the ultimate symbol of freedom. Started 25 years ago Rienke Enghardt (artist at NDSM) to use kites in the Hope Box (HBX) art actions. During Museum Night, a long interactive kite will be rolled out at NDSM Fuse (in the NDSM Loods) that is open for collective expression, guided by the central question “What is Hope (full)?” In response to the poem When I Have to Die thru Refate Alert.
