At the northern side of the NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam-Noord, first-time homeowners will soon be getting a head start. The NoordDok building will be developed directly along two of the most important entry roads to NDSM, with an spectaculair view over the IJ and the wharf.
Definitely a striking building, with its no-nonsense architecture that is a reminder of the industrial NDSM of the early days, but with a modern exterior. The building will consist of three sections of 9, 11 and 15 floors high. The upper floors will boast breathtaking views of a unique area of Amsterdam.
The plans include the realization of 309 social rental apartments for first-time tenants between 18 and 28 years old developed by BMB ontwikkeling (Amsterdam Waterfront B.V.). The surface area of the residences is between 30 and 50 m². On the 1st floor, there is a storage room and an indoor bicycle park. The residences also have their own parking spots at the ground floor. Situated also on the ground floor are commercial spaces (offices, business spaces and possibly also restaurants), with considerably high ceilings of 3 to 5 meters.
NoordDok purchased by housing corporation De Key
Housing agency De Key specializes in first-time homeowners. With the purchase of building NoordDok, De Key is adding another 309 apartments within the A10 city ring. Housing agency De Key will rent out the apartments between € 500,- and € 700,- pm. In this way, first-time homeowners have more options for taking their first step into the housing market. Construction at the NoordDok will begin at the end of 2017. De Key hopes to welcome the first residents by the end of 2019.
