During the Dabke Night, Arab traditions, new customs, cultures and styles are mixed and brought on stage and dance floor. In addition to a live performance of ‘The King of Keyboard’ Rizan Said, the international DJ Matrub plays Arabic breaks & beats and the Dreaming of Syria team gives a mini-workshop Dabke Dancing, so you can blend the whole evening on the dance floor.

/// WHAT IS DABKE?
Dabke (literally: stamping) is a modern Levantine-Arabic circle dance. It is implemented in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia. Dabke combines circle dancing and line dancing and is widely danced at weddings, festivals and important occasions. During Dabke Nights you will see experienced Dabke dancers stir up the audience. The basis of the dance can be learned quickly.

Still no experience with this dance? After one Dabke Night you leave the room as an accomplished dancer thanks to a short workshop of the basic steps, provided by the team of Dreaming of Syria. You’ll be ready for any upcoming Arab party in no time and you can release the whole evening.

/// RIZAN SAID
Rizan said music is the Syrian King of Keyboard and one of the most famous and influential musicians from Syria, both in Syria itself and far beyond the national borders. He previously played at festivals such as ADE and Down The Rabbit Hole. In addition, he composed and made music for years for all kinds of other Syrian artists, film and TV series.

Not long ago, Syria was a culturally rich and diverse country, and despite everything Rizan Said remains with his cheerful, upbeat beats ambassador of that feeling and the Syrian and Kurdish music culture. Enough reason to dance.
