AMSTERDAM BODYPAINT ART EVENT 2018

The Human Connection Arts Foundation is organizing the AMSTERDAM BODYPAINT ART EVENT for the fourth time, this time in and around the NDSM-loods and cultural café Noorderlicht in Amsterdam-Noord. During this six-hour unique event, dozens of models will be painted by local and international artists. The theme this year is FREEDOM.

The difference with the last years is the location. This time not at the Rembrandt- or Museumplein, but in the vicinity of the newest hotspot in Amsterdam, namely the NDSM terrain. This year a competition will be held for the Best Amateur and Professional Bodypainter. The winners will be chosen by the public and a jury to be appointed. Afterwards they invite everyone to party with us in Noorderlicht.

Joram Baruch, the initiator of this fourth AMSTERDAM BODYPAINT ART EVENT, says: “In this age of international tensions, fear of attacks, political insecurity, we have to force ourselves to let our thoughts run free. Not having to constantly think about what will happen tomorrow, do what you want, without having to be accountable for it. That’s why I call it FREEDOM this year. Free from all sores, free of all prejudices, free in spirit, and most importantly: freedom of expression, without limits. And that applies even more to all models and artists who participate in our event. ‘

Bodypainting is also a way to express themselves and to feel at one with their bodies. The difference between our event and the other competitions that are held around the world is that we do not make demands on what you look like and what gender you are. Whether you’re fat, thin, tall, short, supercute or primal; everyone is welcome. We have painted people who were just recovering from the most diverse diseases, who are mentally handicapped, transgenders, 90-year-olds, you name it. That makes this event unique – it does not matter who you are or what your body looks like. Once painted, the body is transformed into a true work of art.
