The construction of 700 homes at Ndsm site will start this summer

Project developer Amsterdam Waterfront is building 700 homes this summer on the NDSM-site. Construction starts after the municipality has made the area ready for construction.

In phase 1 (Pontkade), the first 245 residential buildings are being built, combined with retail and horeca. After that, 455 houses will be built elsewhere on the site. On the waterfront there will be an international hotel, horeca, offices and 150 houses. The plans for this have already been submitted, so the company reports.

At the moment, a building has been developed on the waterfront for creative companies. In 2016, Amsterdam Waterfront already delivered nearly 380 student houses and a 4,000 m2 ROC.

Amsterdam Waterfront is a collaboration between project developers Biesterbos and Reggeborgh Vastgoed. Previously, the municipality struggled with the role of project developer Ted Biesterbos, as the renewal of the NDMS-site according to the municipality stagnated.

In addition, there were questions about Biesterbos’ role in the lawsuit against Ton Hooijmaijers, the convicted former chairman of the province of Noord-Holland. That prosecution was bought off by Biesterbos in 2014.
